Miscellaneous Functions

In addition to the functions which are available through our navigation banner, the Georgia Insurance Department:

• issues rules and regulations for the state’s insurance industry;
• enforces the Georgia Insurance Code;
• investigates and takes enforcement action against companies, agents, and agent misconduct;
• works to resolve complex claims problems between health care providers and managed care insurers;
• licenses insurance-related entities doing business in this state, including third-party administrators, premium finance companies, continuing care retirement communities and life settlement providers;
• collects and disburses taxes related to insurance premiums; and
• works closely with different organizations throughout the state to provide fire safety training and education.
