Medicare Supplement

Medicare Supplemental insurance (or Medigap) is designed to fill some of the gaps in coverage left by Medicare. It is sold by private insurance companies, not the government. It is available only for those becoming Medicare eligible due to age and those eligible due to disability.

Federal and Georgia State law allow insurance companies to offer all 10 standardized Medigap policies. These plans are labeled A through J. Each company must use these same identifying letters. A company does not have to offer all 10 policies but may choose which plans to offer Georgia consumers.

A company selling Medigap is required to offer Plan A, which contains only basic benefits. The other nine standardized plans contain the basic benefits plus other coverage.

This Georgia premium comparison provides you with basic information which you may use for comparison purposes. These premiums are based on information provided to the Department of Insurance by each of the listed companies. Although they may be useful in comparing rates between the companies, they do not represent actual insurance quotations. Since they may not be applicable to your particular circumstance, you should contact your licensed insurance agent or insurance company for an actual quote.

The premium examples are presented in alphabetical order, and do not reflect an endorsement of any of the listed insurance companies.

For purposes of comparison, the following typical coverage was used as the standard for determining the rate comparisons.
