Agents

The Agents Licensing Section is responsible for the regulation of the insurance industry relative to agents, adjusters, agencies, counselors, subagents and surplus lines brokers licensed in the State of Georgia.

ATTENTION: TO ALL NEW APPLICANTS - EFFECTIVE 1/1/2012. In accordance with state law, beginning January 1, 2012, the Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner will be changing its procedures regarding the verification of lawful presence of persons applying for all licenses, permits, registrations and certificates. Please click HERE for more information.

ATTENTION: 2012 Renewal Cycle has closed effective 12/31/2011

Resident licensees that failed to successfully renew by 12/31/2011 are now required to file for reinstatement in order to activate the license for 2012. To be considered for reinstatement the following must be submitted:

· Form GID-103 & Illegal Immigration Reform And Enforcement Act Citizenship Affidavit Form GID276-EN

· 15 hours of CE. (3 of the 15 hours must be in ethics). The total number of CE hours required can vary based on length of service as a licensee, carry-over hours and professional designations. You may check your CE transcript at www.sircon.com/georgia

· Appropriate payment. Some payment examples are listed below:

o $80 for life, accident and sickness, property and casualty.

o $160.00 for life, accident and sickness and variable products

o $330.00 for surplus lines broker

o $85.00 for a limited subagent

o $80.00 for adjuster, worker’s comp adjuster or public adjuster

o $80.00 for a counselor license.

· If the licensee fails to file for reinstatement by 6/30/2012, they must also submit electronic fingerprints.

Once the above information is received, the application will be sent to our Enforcement Division for review. The Enforcement Division will send a consent order outlining the administrative fine for failure to timely renew. The fine for reinstatement is $150 for the first occurrence, $300 for the second. If the licensee allows the license lapse a third time, reinstatement is no longer an option and the licensee will be required to start over by completing all Prelicensing requirements.

Online license print now available. Please visit www.sircon.com/georgia for complete details

Electronic Fingerprint Requirements - Effective January 1, 2010, all new resident applicants, excluding active licensees and individuals that apply for reinstatement within 6 months of expiration date, shall be required to submit electronic fingerprints through a vendor selected by the Department for a criminal background check. The applicant shall bear the cost for electronic fingerprinting. Please click HERE for more information.
